Commercial filmed at Winnemac Park today

It appears the popularity of our local park continues to grow in many ways. I noticed a good sized production crew set up in Winnemac Park today.  I was told it was a commercial shoot by one of the production people.  Anyone know the subject of the commercial?

Independence Day in Winnemac Park

Did you know your friendly neighborhood blog gets more visitors in the first 4 days of July than the entire rest of the summer combined?

Chances are this is the first time you've visited our blog in a while, or maybe the first time ever!  Welcome, neighbor.  Before we get to the information you're looking for, we'd like to invite you to scroll down and read about some of the great things happening in our local community.  And, if you're reading this on the web and you look to your right, you'll see a box to fill in your email address and subscribe.  (If you're reading this in an email, congratulations, you're already subscribed!)  You'll get a weekly update of events happening in the community, compiled from the blog.  We promise we won't spam you or give your email address to anyone else.

If Facebook's more your speed, we have a page there as well.  Come like us!

We're always looking for volunteers to help keep the blog full of interesting stories, news, photos, and the like from our local community.  If you want to be a part of our team, .

Oh, and about those fireworks: There are no sanctioned fireworks scheduled for Winnemac Park on July 4th this year.  History suggests that fireworks will probably be set off after dark.  No one takes responsibility for this illegal, unregulated fireworks display (because if they did, the city would pretty much be forced to arrest them on felony charges), so there is no formal schedule.  And we all look forward to the vigorous neighborhood debate about whether the night of fireworks is (1) a fun family-pleasing tradition celebrating an important American holiday, or (2) a dangerous menace that endangers people and property and trashes our beloved park.  Whichever opinion you hold: Stay safe, and a have a happy 4th of July!
