Chappell, McPherson schools in the news!

Our two neighborhood elementary schools have been thriving.  Chappell and McPherson have started the years off strong.  Here's a couple stories from the first week of school.  Check out what's going on.

I was able to sponsor the Kindergarten Coffee orientation at Chappell for the second year in a row.  Parents with new Kindergarten students were able to meet and learn more about their child's full day and the school resources available.

Chase Park "Back to School Sports Bash" scores big!

We spent last Sunday afternoon at a really great event at Chase Park.  The Back-to-School Sports Bash featured a well rounded schedule of sports and activities.  We Got Game and the Chase Park Advisory Council did an excellent job hosting and running the schedule.  Maybe a small "sports bash" can be in the future at Winnemac Park?

Bouncy obstacle course!

The event featured theater class, face-painting, kids fitness challenges, "Language Stars", scooter skills and more. The kids mostly played on the fields and the tennis courts for hockey and basketball.  I suppose it would be easy to do tennis too.  All the equipment was portable and easy to set up.

Basketball skills and games
Aldermans Ameya Pawar, James Cappleman, Representative Greg Harris, Margaret O'Connor (Vice President Chase Park Advisory Council) and Park Supervisor Katie Fearon-Peon greeted attendees and said a few words.  It's amazing what Chase park has done with programming and community support in the last a few years.
The organizers and elected officials say a few words.

Thanks to all those involved in the Back to School Bash. Our kids are excited to join new sports!

Video Update: Ravenswood Terrace Apartments to be completed by May 2014

Watch a video update of the Ravenswood Terrace Apartments; possibly the largest single residential development ever in the neighborhood at 150 rental units.  I believe Wolcott Village (built in the late 1930s) directly to the west of this site has 147 units.
